This weekend, Activision will be giving Call of Duty: Warzone players a whole range of new content to play for free; the company has announced that a trial of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer will be free-to-play for all Warzone players this weekend. This is the second time the company has held a Free Access Weekend, and this time, the event will feature the new maps added in Season Three. This event starts today, the 24th of April, at 10:00 AM PT.
How to Play Modern Warfare Multiplayer for Free
“For one weekend only,” writes Activision; “the entire online community can face off in an all-new Multiplayer Moshpit. Play 6v6 Multiplayer modes on five popular maps, including three NEW Season Three maps, until 10AM PT April 27. If you haven’t played Modern Warfare Multiplayer, now’s the chance to see what you’ve been missing.”
So long as you have Warzone installed (which is, of course, free-to-play), you’ll be able to try out Modern Warfare Multiplayer for free via the game’s Lobby. Simply look for the “24/7 Playlist” in order to get started. The playlist features a range of different 6v6 modes. Specifically, you’ll be able to play Domination, Hardpoint, Headquarters, Kill Confirmed, and Team Deathmatch. It also features five different maps, including the classic Shoot House map alongside Khandor Hideout and the new Season Three maps; Aniyah Incursion, Hovec Sawmill, and Talsik Backlot.
All of this will be free to play over the weekend, until 10:00 AM PT on Monday the 27th. Given Warzone’s absolutely enormous audience, this could prove to be a very successful event for Activision. Modern Warfare’s sales have been very strong since launch, but have been particularly strong since the launch of Warzone; suggesting that many of the free game’s players have been making the decision to buy the full game. Indeed, Modern Warfare is actually currently 2020’s best-selling game, despite launching last year.
