EA UFC 4 Wishlist: Five Features We Want to See in the New MMA Game

The past two installments of the EA UFC franchise have been met with decent reviews. However, neither EA UFC 2 or UFC 3 for PS4 and Xbox One have managed to move past the 80 level on Metacritic. That means there’s a good bit of room for improvement with the title. With our EA UFC 4 wishlist we take a look at five features the next title could put to use to make this one a major winner with the fans.

EA UFC 4 Wishlist: Features to improve the game

The new UFC game is rumored to be coming out just in time for the new PlayStation and Xbox consoles. We think there are at least five ways that EA UFC 4 could be much improved over its predecessors. They include upgrades or additions as we note below.

Improved Submissions – While UFC 3 had a much improved striking game, it gave gamers lots of frustration with trying to pull off submissions or escape from them. Therefore, we’d like to see something new beyond the quadrant system that the game has used for submissions in the past two installments. In the video below they give their take on how the submission system could be overhauled for the better.

Improved knockouts – Plenty of fans loved what they had to offer in UFC 2, as knockouts always felt unique. The ragdoll KO is a thing of beauty as seen in the highlight reel video below. Bringing these into EA UFC 4 would go a long way towards making fans enjoy the moment of that huge KO against an opponent. It could even be a bit of Mortal Kombat in terms of the feel with each “finish” for fighters bringing something creative.

Three modes to add or improve

Create a fighter – Gamers love customizing their own playable characters in games like WWE 2K and EA’s UFC. Both are pretty great, but there’s always room for more. With UFC 4 CAF, gamers should have more slots and more options.

These can include more hairstyles and surname options among other options. The ability to have AI templates for fighter styles is also a great idea. Having shared CAFs amongst the UFC gaming community would also be a big step in the right direction.

New GM Mode – UFC 3’s career mode was another excellent aspect of the game, but how about a General Manager component? This would give gamers the ability to set up their own cards and schedules over the year. Daily, weekly, and monthly objectives would be something to work towards. Give gamers the ability to try to manage the successes and failures associated with UFC events.

New Ultimate Team mode – By now, most people know that EA uses their Ultimate Team modes to bring in more money. UFC 3 was no different as it’s full of loot boxes and microtransactions. This is clearly an area we think they could look at making more appealing to gamers. Obviously, requiring less money spent to enjoy it would go far.

In games like Madden or FIFA, there are ways to do this through loyalty programs or simply grinding out wins or other tasks. EA could certainly use some similar ideas for their EA UFC 4 game to prevent the “money grab” feel.

Those are just five ideas we have that could do a lot to upgrade EA UFC 4. When it comes down to it, some people believe EA’s UFC 3 title was the best ever. Others felt it left a lot to be desired. Bottom line is, games are constantly evolving and sometimes they get things right. We can only hope with another two years in between titles that when UFC 4 arrives, it brings a winner to the fans.
