DICE Is Content With The Battlefield V DLC Plans

All fans were excited to find out that all Battlefield V DLC this year will be free, as part of a live service called Tides of War. In contrast with its competitor’s decision to have a paid Season Pass to gain access to all DLC, DICE is happy with the way the handled their plans.

It came to a surprise to all fans when EA announced that all Battlefield V DLC will be free. Given the past of the company, showing their path towards microtransactions quite often, this decision left us with wide open mouths.

This decision made DICE happy too as Senior Producer for the game, Lars Gustavsson told Dualshockers. He said:

“We have so many talented people who have built some of our best maps ever post-launch. Usually, we build a game with a mindset and everything, and then when we do post-launch we learn from that, and allow ourselves to ‘go deep’ on this or that,” Gustavsson told the site. “It’s been kind of sad to see that we’ve splintered our community through the years and some times those experiences haven’t gotten all the love they deserve. So that’s why the team is super-happy to do this.”

It all comes down to whether or not the aforementioned Battlefield V DLC will be “rich” enough in content to have fans excited about the frequent updates in the long run. DICE has already revealed that they plan on bringing new content to the game almost daily, in the form of new maps, customization items, weapons, vehicles and more.

It will be interesting to see how Tides of War will hold up as a live service in October and how this will influence companies to follow the same path and move away from paid DLC post release. Are you excited about Battlefield V getting free DLC this year?
