Super Mega Baseball 3 Features: Cross-Platform Custom Pennant Race Revealed

Metalhead Software has revealed that Super Mega Baseball 3 features will include a new addition. In the third installment of the simulation baseball title, games will be able to take on their friends in a custom pennant mode. The best part of it is that it will be a cross-platform mode, allowing for all sorts of fun online between friends and foes.

New video reveals Super Mega Baseball 3 Custom Pennant Mode

We’ve seen several videos come through in the lead-up to the new Super Mega Baseball game. These have covered the various changes or updates coming to the new game including Franchise Mode and gameplay. In a brand new reveal video on May 8, Scott from Metalhead discusses the Super Mega Baseball 3 Pennant Mode.

Custom Pennant Race mode will be a new online feature for the SMB game. Scott mentions that it incorporates a lot of the feedback from the community and will be a “game-changer” for how gamers play amongst friends. The best part is it is a cross-platform feature for Super Mega Baseball 3.

With this mode, gamers can invite friends to compete in a “private cross-platform pennant race.” It will allow up to 32 players to participate along with custom features such as how long the Pennant Race lasts, how many innings per game, and more.

The video below gives more of an overview including examples of how Custom Pennant Race Mode can work with casual or super competitive set-ups.

The Custom Pennant Race Mode won’t be part of the Super Mega Baseball 3 features at launch. The post-launch is set for summer 2020.

Baseball sim fans will have to wait a bit for it, but it seems like something Metalhead is putting a great deal of effort into. That bodes well for the franchise which could gain more fans as people are staying home and practicing social distancing measures. A way to compete against friends no matter the platform is pretty nice.

Super Mega Baseball 3 release details

Originally, Metalhead Software was planning an April 2020 release date for Super Mega Baseball 3. However, that got pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. So now the game is arriving next week on Wednesday, May 13.

SMB3 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PCs via Steam. The cost is $44.99 for all versions. The Super Mega Baseball game won’t have any extra costs once it’s released. That means even the Custom Pennant Mode Online feature will arrive free to those who own the game.
