MLB The Show 20 Semifinals Choice Pack, Blake Snell Moments Bring Diamond Players League Stars
Over the past month or so, baseball stars from each of the MLB teams participated in the MLB Players League. A total of 30 players were involved in a season with three inning games on MLB The Show 20. Ultimately, it brought about playoffs and a championship for Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Blake Snell. He’s now got a Diamond card as part of the new MLB The Show 20 Semifinals Choice Pack along with other semifinalists.
New MLB The Show 20 Semifinals Choice Pack features Snell, Giolito
On Friday, May 8, the MLB The Show 20 Semifinals Choice packs went live in-game. The new packs bring each of the semifinalists from the inaugural MLB Players League a new Diamond card. Three of the cards were shown on the initial tweet including runner-up Lucas Giolito who gets a 90 overall item. Also pictured are Chicago Cubs star Ian Happ and New York Mets second baseman Jeff McNeil.
Giolito was one of the players who really developed during the MLB Players League. Even the champion Blake Snell praised his progression from the start of things all the way up until the Championship Game. He took to Twitter to show off his card’s attributes once the new item was live in the game.
Gio’s new item brings him a five-pitch repertoire which includes a 95 mph 4-Seam Fastball and a 93 mph 2-Seam Fastball. Amongst the ratings for the 6-foot-6 pitcher are a 98 Breaking attribute, 95 for K/9, 94 Stamina, and 93 Hits over nine innings.
Blake Snell gets new card in Players Programs
The best card of the Players League Semifinalists goes to Blake Snell, since he was the champion, after all. However, it’s not in the Semifinals Choice Pack. Instead, it has to be earned separately.
Snellzilla gets a 95 overall Diamond complete with a 97 mph 4-Seam Fastball and 88 mph Slider in his four-pitch repertoire. The former Cy Young winner has 105 K/9, 103 Pitch Control, 99 Breaking, and 98 H/9 stats. He also brings a 65 Fielding, 66 Arm, and 65 Accuracy for defense.
To get the MLB The Show 20 Semifinals Choice pack, gamers can participate in Player Programs. There’s a Players League Blake Snell series now. In there are Missions, Collections, and Moments.
The Collections involve getting all of the semifinalists’ new items except Snell. The Moments all correspond to the MLB The Show Players League semifinalists and different things they did during each of their runs to the playoffs.
Gamers will need to earn a total of 70 Player Programs to get the Semifinals Choice pack. At 100 Player Programs, gamers get the Blake Snell Diamond item. Other rewards along the way include MLB The Show Stubs, a Quarterfinals Choice pack, and XP.
