As Apex Legends Season 5 continues, Respawn has released an announcement trailer for Apex Legends Pathfinder Edition; a brand-new retail edition of the battle royale game. Like previous retail versions of the game, the Pathfinder Edition’s main selling point are several exclusive Pathfinder cosmetics, rather than the game itself.
The Apex Legends Pathfinder Edition
“Follow the trail to glory with the Pathfinder Edition,” writes Respawn; “It’s locked and loaded with everything you’ll want for your next expedition. Whatever dangers the journey ahead holds, you’ll meet them head on with a super cool bandanna, back-in-fashion camo shorts, and a can-do attitude.”
Of course, Apex Legends is a free-to-play game, so you don’t actually need to buy any of its retail editions. However, Respawn has now released four of these editions, which effectively serve as introductory packs for new players. (Or alternately, as cosmetic bundles for existing ones.) Each edition is themed around a different Legend, with the latest one focusing on Pathfinder. Past editions have featured exclusive cosmetics for Bloodhound, Lifeline, and Octane, for example.
The new Apex Legends Pathfinder Edition is available to purchase from today, the 26th of May. It costs $19.99 and can be downloaded on Xbox One, PS4, or Origin for PC. Of course, it can also be bought as a download card from a retail store. Bear in mind that if you already play Apex Legends, you can still buy a retail edition of the game and get everything it includes; while new players might be their primary market, there’s no reason why existing players can’t also get their hands on them.
Every retail edition of Apex Legends includes a cache of 1,000 Apex Coins. The intention here is to give new players a way to catch up, but it’s also useful for existing players. Alongside that cache, there are four exclusive cosmetics in the Pathfinder Edition. Firstly, there is the exclusive “Molotov Cocktail” Gun Charm and “Lone Bot” Badge. However, the real selling point of the edition are the Legend and weapon skins. In this case, buyers will get the Legendary “First Blood” skin for the Havoc along with the Legendary “Full Metal Robot” skin for Pathfinder.
