God of War and Detroit: Become Human Continue to Dominate US Game Sales
Over two months since its release, God of War is still refusing to lose its grip on the top of the bestselling charts. The latest video game sales chart for the US has now been released; listing the top-selling games for the month of May across all platforms. The chart shows God of War still clinging stubbornly to a spot in the top three, although State of Decay 2 has displaced it from the top spot for the time being.

God of War’s continued success is not altogether surprising, given how many records it broke at release. The same could be said of Far Cry 5, though its May sales figures were likely bolstered by the release of Hours of Darkness, its first DLC. Perhaps the most surprising entry on the list is Detroit: Become Human, which managed to claim a spot in the top three. Quantic Dream’s latest title has performed extremely well for a studio whose games have, in the past, been played by a relatively niche audience. Detroit: Become Human looks set to surpass the performance of Heavy Rain, despite the fact that the game’s review scores weren’t quite as high. Indeed, the game has had a record-breaking performance in Japan, becoming Quantic Dream’s most successful Japanese release ever.
While God of War has retained the #2 bestselling spot, it’s worth noting that the game is a PlayStation exclusive. PlayStation confirmed that the game was the most downloaded game during May on the PlayStation Store. Detroit: Become Human was also a PS4 exclusive; both titles are clear evidence of a very strong month for PlayStation.
