Still Time to Join the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Free Access Weekend

Once again, Infinity Ward and Activision are holding a ‘Free Access Multiplayer Weekend‘ for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare; an event which gives Warzone players free access to parts of Modern Warfare’s multiplayer. If you want to give this multiplayer a try, fear not; there’s still enough time to get involved before the event ends at 10:00 AM PT on the 15th of June.

The Latest Modern Warfare Free Access Multiplayer Weekend

Activision has held several Free Access Multiplayer Weekends for Modern Warfare since the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone. After all, having the free-to-play battle royale game as a parallel platform has proven very effective at marketing Modern Warfare to new players. This latest event will be live for around another day-and-a-half; ample time for any latecomers to give the free multiplayer modes a try.

Modern Warfare Free Access Multiplayer Weekend June

At present, the Free Access Multiplayer Weekend is offering access to various different multiplayer modes and 3v3 Gunfight. Additionally, free players can play on 5 different multiplayer maps and 7 Gunfight maps. The free content was added as part of a new playlist update on Friday. This update removed Blood Money and Plunder from Warzone while moving BR Quads and Solos to their own menu. However, the update also added access to Modern Warfare 3v3 Gunfight and “a mix of maps and game modes” to the free-to-play game.

Presumably, these changes will be reset by another update at 10:00 AM PT on the 15th of June, when the Free Access weekend ends. Given the recent launch of Modern Warfare Season 4, this event is likely to attract a lot of new players. Given Warzone’s enormous free-to-play audience, the ability to market Modern Warfare directly to them has proven very effective for Activision. As a result, the game’s sales have been chart-toppingly high, especially with game industry sales at an all-time high due to COVID-19.
