NBA 2K20 Sales Rank Among Top Five Video Games in May as 2K21 Teases Begin
The NBA 2K20 sales have been strong, despite the fact the league has been on hiatus. A recent report has the game amongst the top five bestsellers for video games in the month of May 2020. That made it the bestseller amongst other popular sports games including the Madden, FIFA, and MLB The Show franchises. Meanwhile, the new NBA 2K21 game is starting to get some early teases and reveals ahead of bigger details for the game.
NBA 2K20 sales land game in top five
A recent NPD list of the top-selling video games in May indicated that Call of Duty: Warzone was the bestseller of all. Following right behind it was the forever popular Grand Theft Auto V, and then Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, the basketball simulation title NBA 2K20 was listed fourth overall, making it best amongst all sports sim titles currently available.
According to an SGO report, the next sports sim on the list came at No. 11 with Madden NFL 20. Sony Interactive and San Diego Studios’ MLB The Show 20 ranked at No. 17 while EA’s FIFA 20 was No. 20 overall.
The NBA 2K20 sales seem strong, with the game originally launching back in early September 2019. NBA 2K20 is currently available for the Sony PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and Windows PCs.
NBA 2K21 trailer debuted at Sony PS5 event
During this past Thursday’s big Sony PlayStation 5 reveal event, there were also a number of upcoming games revealed for the next-gen console. Among the titles shown for PS5 was the new NBA 2K21 teaser trailer featuring New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson.
The trailer gave gamers an early preview of the graphics and just a bit of gameplay featuring Zion by himself in an empty gym. There are more details on the way, based on another video that NBA 2K released soon after.
The new video features Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons, hip-hop artist Quavo from Migos, and other celebrities with them teasing they know what’s coming. One of those teases involves the cover athletes, which many fans believe will be Zion Williamson and the late Kobe Bryant.
