My Arcade is best known as a US-based retro gaming specialist, who prides themselves on knowing exactly what their audience wants. Their audience? Retro gamers who live and breathe arcade games and thus, need any product that My Arcade makes in their lives. They make portable devices, mostly handheld, as well as offer up new creative designs such as micro arcade players. Well, now they’ve branched out even further by teaming up with Bandai Namco to bring classic Bandai Namco titles onto portable devices.
While My Arcade already has Bandai Namco titles such as Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug, this collaboration between the two looks to fulfill many classic arcade fans dreams. Crystal Dugan, My Arcade’s marketing manager also had a few words to say on their team up with the well-respected publisher.
“Bandai Namco Entertainment is synonymous with classic gaming, and has developed a huge library of classic games, loved by all,” she said. “We are so honored to work with them and so excited to share these titles with a new generation of gamers, in our own unique way.”
These new devices sure are unique. The first device, slated to release sometime this year, is the Namco Museum Mini Player, which will be jam-packed with 20 classic titles and features a large vertical-oriented screen for the arcade gameplay you deserve. What it will also feature is dual front-facing speakers for that great, optimal sound, a detachable joystick, and back-lit marquee and coin trap. But what makes this a real best-seller is that all of the titles included on the device are the original arcade versions of the games. Unless, of course, no arcade version was made at the time.
The second device will be the Pac-Man Pocket Player. It is is a new 16-bit handheld console designed by My Arcade that is sturdy, portable and boasts a full-color screen that will make all your friends jealous. What’s more, the Pocket Player will include three Bandai Namco classic Pac-Man titles, including original arcade favorite Pac-Man, along with Pac-Panic and Pac-Mania. Even better news? It is said to come out next month.
