Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now in full swing, and the first of the season’s new game modes has arrived; One in the Chamber. A classic mode from previous titles in the franchise, One in the Chamber rewards accuracy and lightning-fast reflexes.
Modern Warfare Modes: One in the Chamber
One in the Chamber is the first new mode to come to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare during the course of Season 4; the first of several, with two more modes due to come later in the season. Call of Duty veterans will likely recognise this mode from past games, as it has gone through various iterations over the years. A Free-For-All Mode, it arms every player with a handgun and a single bullet.

The only way to get another bullet is to score a kill, either with your sidearm, a melee attack, or a Finishing Move. These are the only ways to score kills, since One in the Chamber doesn’t feature Killstreaks. Players also don’t get Field Upgrades or Perks. In each match, every player has three lives, and you also earn points. Points are awarded for scoring kills and surviving longer without dying. Ultimately, the player who scores the most points will win the match. Interestingly, once you’re eliminated, you’ll actually earn an XP bonus every time you spectate a player scoring a kill. As such, there’s an incentive to stay and watch until the end.
As one would guess, One in the Chamber is a mode which rewards pinpoint accuracy. Shooting precisely and shooting first are keys to victory, but players should also beware hunkering down. If nobody dies for 30 seconds, a UAV will reveal the locations of every player in the game. As such, it’s better to stay on the move rather than hiding and only engaging targets opportunistically. Players should also bear in mind that the last person alive doesn’t automatically win the game. If somebody else scores more kills and earns more points, it may not matter if they get eliminated; they may still win regardless if the remaining players can’t catch up.
