During Thursday night’s EA Madden NFL Twitch stream, viewers got insight into more of the upcoming Madden 21 gameplay upgrades. That included aspects such as tackling updates, zone drop coach adjustments, and passing improvements. However, something many gamers were waiting for news about was the new Madden 21 Beta, which they dropped some details for.
Gameplay deep dive shows Ball Carrier Control switch
The first of the Twitch Deep Dive sessions featured Agent K and Clint Oldenburg talking more about all of the big gameplay details. They didn’t have too much in the way of new footage, showing mostly gameplay trailer video scenes and a few screenshots.
Some of the key developments are upgrades to the tackling system as well as new passing game features. Quarterbacks will now throw while being sacked, and also make quicker throws when they sense pressure. Other updates came with player personnel packaging, the kicking game, and run defense. Following the live stream, Gridiron Notes went live here to provide the full details of the gameplay updates.
One of the big questions that kept popping up in the Twitch chat room during the stream involved the Madden 21 Beta. That was briefly addressed after Clint and Agent K showed how there was a change to the controls for Ball Carrier moves in Madden 21, as seen below.
As seen in the screenshot, Truck is now on the Y button on the Xbox One controller. For the longest time, Truck was performed in the game by pressing the Right Stick up. Clint brought this up as one of the things he’d like for gamers to test out and give feedback on “when the beta goes live.”
Pass rushing moves are back on the Right Stick for defense, just like past editions of Madden. So that’s another aspect gamers will be able to check out and see how it works with the beta.
When is Madden 21 beta and how do you participate?
At the very end of the EA Madden NFL Twitch stream, Agent K brought up the Madden 21 beta. He said they had originally planned for the closed gameplay beta to go live today (June 25). However, they pushed it back.
EA will make it available at a later date in the “coming weeks.” Agent K said anyone who signed up through a registration link that went out weeks ago should be good to go.
For those who missed it, there’s good news. He mentioned that while they can only offer a closed beta, this year they wanted more people involved. So, those players who engage a lot with their time spent on the game will also get codes. Emails with codes will also be going to go out to players who have been playing a lot of the game’s MUT or Franchise mode.
There will be additional Madden 21 beta codes going out through various social media accounts. That includes @EASPORTS_MUT, @EAMaddenDirect, and @EAMaddenNFL on Twitter. Other influencers will also have beta codes to give out to the community too so keep an eye online in the coming weeks.
The next Madden 21 Deep Dive goes live on Twitch on June 30. Check out Madden MVP pre-order details for more about the elite upcoming version of the game.
