Following the recent launch of Valorant Patch 1.05, Riot Games have finally added a second game mode to the title, if only in a beta format. This new Valorant Deathmatch Beta is currently available in the first of its limited windows, aiming to test its stability & performance ahead of a full roll-out.
The Valorant Deathmatch Beta
The Valorant Deathmatch mode isn’t designed to be a hardcore competitive mode in the same way that its standard game mode is. Rather, Riot intends it to serve as a more casual space to practice and hone your skills. Indeed, this role was something frequently requested from fans, who wanted a less intense game mode to practice in. According to Riot, the mode will be available in several; “specific windows,” with the first now live following the launch of Patch 1.05.
Deathmatch in Valorant is devoid of the usual teams, instead offering a 10-player free-for-all experience. Interestingly, the mode also strips out Agent abilities, and even removes the ability for players to pick their own Agent. Instead, you’ll spawn in as a random Agent with no abilities. You’ll then have 6 minutes to score as many kills as you can, with the first player to 30 kills winning the match.
In Deathmatch, you have unlimited money to buy weapons every round, allowing you to choose whatever loadout you want. (All players will actually get heavy armour automatically.) If you want to stay alive, you’ll need to score kills, because every enemy drops a health kit upon death. If you pick one of these kits up, it’ll immediately restore both your health and armour to full. In fact, it will even reload your primary weapon! The final noteworthy change in Deathmatch is one which should help players locate each other; the game will periodically reveal the locations of all players on the minimap.
