Final Fantasy VII Remake for PS4 Now Available for $40

If you’re a fan of Final Fantasy, or RPGs as a whole, there’s good news. Final Fantasy VII Remake is now on sale for $40 on Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart. That’s the cheapest the game has gone for since its release in April.

You can also find the much-hyped remake for the same markdown on the PSN Store. Whether you prefer digital or physical copies of your games, you can grab this one at a $20 discount until August 19. The PS4 remake of Final Fantasy VII was one of the most-anticipated releases of 2020, bringing the beloved classic to a new generation of gamers.

Final Fantasy VII Remake gives the original next-gen visuals, as well as some adjustments to the story. These changes, including some new sidequests, stretch the first section of the original into a full-length game. To play the full story of the original, you’ll have to wait for the FFVII Remake Part 2.

On top of the discounted game, you can also get some special items and DLC for free now. These features, which are all relatively small, were either preorder exclusives or promotional deals before. Now anyone can enjoy these, including in-game accessories to give your characters a few upgrades.

Looking to the Next Final Fantasy

This discount isn’t the only news for Final Fantasy fans on the horizon. The last new installment in the franchise, FFXV, came out four years ago, meaning a new one could be close. Dropping the price on FFVII Remake could be an attempt to get people ready for the next game.

A new rumor suggests that Final Fantasy XVI will be a PS5 exclusive when it does come out. According to the prediction, Sony originally intended to announce FFXVI in their June PlayStation event. The rumor’s source accurately predicted PlayStation’s exclusive Spider-Man DLC for Marvel’s Avengers, so they have a reliable track record.

With the PS5 launching this holiday season, it would make sense to release an exclusive like Final Fantasy along with it. For now, though, these are still just rumors. As for FFVII Remake Part 2, there’s still no guaranteed release date, either.

Grab a Discounted Copy While You Can

From Final Fantasy VII to Shadow of the Colossus, PS4 remakes have quite the reputation for quality. If you haven’t played FFVII yet, make sure you get your copy before the discount ends on August 19. It’s the best way to tide you over until the next Final Fantasy installment releases.
