Among the two new additions thus far to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare armoury in Season 5 is the AN-94; a high-precision assault rifle which features a special ‘hyperburst’ function. Effectively, this powerful weapon fires a 2-round burst with every single trigger pull. As such, it’s a worthy addition to any player’s arsenal.
Modern Warfare Season 6: The AN-94 Assault Rifle
“Cutting edge 5.45x39mm Russian assault rifle with a unique hyperburst feature,” writes Infinity Ward; “The initial shot from each trigger pull fires a rapid 2-round burst before perceived recoil is felt, creating a tightly grouped cluster with increased damage potential. This mechanism is fed by a canted magazine, and a reciprocating receiver helps keep control of the recoil.”
In its most basic form, the new Modern Warfare AN-94 assault rifle has a very high rate of fire, but with comparatively low damage. As you would expect, it performs best at short- or mid-range. By default, it has 30-round magazines with the same ammo that the AK-47 uses with its 5.45x39mm 30-Round Magazine attachment. However, while it might seem similar to the AK-47 at first glance, the hyperburst function makes the AN-94 totally unique. With every first shot firing two bullets, the AN-94 can make very short work of unarmoured targets without major recoil affecting your accuracy.
Of course, there are also a few Blueprints available for the AN-94. Any one of these can totally change the feel of this rifle. The Company’s Might, for example, is available at Tier 100 of the Season 5 Battle Pass. Fitted with a Compensator, VLK 3.0x Optic, Tac-Laser, and Commando Foregrip, this variant is versatile and precise with superior recoil control. As such, it serves a similar role to the standard AN-94, but with greater performance. Alternatively, the AN-94 can function as a long-range marksman rifle; simply add a Thermal Scope and Factory Heavy stock, etc. In fact, you can even use it more like an SMG. Eschew a scope, use the VLK An-94 Sila barrel with VLK PX-9 Pero stock, and transform the AN94 into a short-range eliminator.
