Alongside the addition of two new firearms in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5, Infinity Ward also recently added the Dual Kodachis; an all-new melee option for players. If you want to unlock these twin blades, you’ll need to complete a melee-centric challenge… or buy the right bundle.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 – Dual Kodachis
“Hand-forged carbon steel blades provide the sharpest edge possible for silently slicing through your enemies,” writes Infinity Ward, describing the new Dual Kodachis. These lethal blades were recently added as part of the ongoing content releases of Season 5. Now, they’re available for all players to unlock. Like previous new weapons, the challenge itself isn’t too hard, but players will need to repeat it quite a few times. To unlock the Dual Kodachis, you’ll need to get 3 kills from behind the target… in 15 different matches.
Of course, as per usual, there is another way to unlock the Dual Kodachis, in a way. If you want to start playing with these blades right away, you can purchase the Eternal Samurai bundle in the Modern Warfare store. This new bundle features four items; the ‘Bushido’ emblem, ‘Forever Loyal’ calling card, ‘Shogun’ Legendary Riot Shield blueprint, and the ‘Daimyo’ Legendary Dual Kodachis blueprint.
Of course, purchasing the bundle only allows you to use the Daimyo version of the blades. If you want to level up the weapon and unlock its Camo Challenges, you’ll still need to unlock it the standard way. The good thing is, the challenge should give you plenty of practice in stealthy melee takedowns. As such, when you do unlock the Dual Kodachis themselves, you should be fairly competent with them. Consider using perks like Ghost and Cold-Blooded to avoid detection, for example. Plus, Spotter combined with the Heartbeat Sensor tactical equipment can be great for tracking down your victims.
