With the rollout of a new Borderlands 3 update, the fourth of six planned mini-events in the game is now live. However, the update also includes a range of weapon balancing adjustments; a more substantial change which noticeably comes just ahead of the game’s fourth DLC announcement.
What’s New in the Latest Borderlands 3 Update
The headline feature of the latest Borderlands 3 update is the ‘Show Me the Eridium’ event, which is now live in-game. This is the fourth of a series of six week-long mini-events which Gearbox is running in the lead-up to their fourth DLC launch as part of an Anniversary Celebration. (A full reveal for the next DLC is due to arrive in a few days’ time.) The event means that players should see more Eridium drop while playing. Moreover, items which cost Eridium have all had their prices reduced during the event.

However, the new update also includes a wide range of weapon adjustments; more than has been in the last few patches, certainly. It’s possible that Gearbox is laying some groundwork ahead of the fourth DLC release. Or, it may simply be that they’ve been working on these changes for a while and they happen to be ready now. Either way, players should see certain Legendary weapons performing a little differently. The weapons, and their specific changes, are as follows:
- Grenades: Gearbox has given all grenades a general damage increase. This affects all grenades across all characters.
- Increased Damage: The AutoAimè, Damned, Headsplosion, Juilet’s Dazzle, Monacle, Ogre, Star Helix, and Webslinger have all simply had their damage boosted with this patch.
- ASMD: The ASMD’s damage has gone up, alongside an increase to its explosion damage. However, the orb’s speed has simultaneously gone down.
- Globetrotter: The number of shots this gun can make before it breaks has been increased.
- Good Juju: The critical hit bonus per body shot for this firearm has been doubled.
- Lyuda: The Lyuda has gotten a damage buff as well as a decrease to its reload time.
- Recursion: No change to damage in this case. However, the Recursion has had its ricochet cap increased from 5 to 7.
- Sawbar: In addition to a damage increase, Gearbox has given the Sawbar a boost to the radius of its child projectiles.
- Smog: Not only has the Smog’s damage gone up, but when its shield is at max capacity, it will now deal double amplified damage.
- Storm & Firestorm: This weapon has had a damage increase, as well as a reduction to its charge time.
