For the second half of Season 5 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, Activision today launched ‘Season Five Reloaded,’ with a major release of new content. However, unlike previous season ‘Reloaded’ installments, Activision is also launching a new global seasonal event alongside the expansion; “Games of Summer“.
Modern Warafre & Warzone: The Games of Summer Event
“Following Shadow Company’s explosive arrival to Verdansk, Games of Summer will arrive to challenge all Operators on their skills,” explains Activision; “Only the most talented will be rewarded with the spoils of the games; the prospect of which has invited a new reinforcement to the Coalition’s Warcom division.”
Season Five Reloaded rolls out today. In a few days’ time, on the 28th of August, Games of Summer will officially begin. “Games of Summer” is effectively a global tournament which features a range of competitive Trials. Both Modern Warfare and Warzone players will be able to compete, representing the countries where they’re playing, in a variety of single-player Trials. Completing these Trials earns players medals, which contribute to their country’s total score. All told, there’ll be five Trials in Games of Summer, which go live at 10:00 AM PT on August 28.
In addition to Trial medals, players will also be able to earn supplementary rewards during Games of Summer. Anybody who participates in the event, for starters, earn an event-specific Gun Charm. However, other Trial rewards include XP tokens, vehicle skins, and even Legendary weapon blueprints. For example, earning a gold medal in all five Trials will earn you the Legendary Assault Rifle Juliet Blueprint.
The Games of Summer event will come to an end in both Modern Warfare and Warzone on the 7th of September. As such, players will have just over one week to take part. Gamers who want to earn bonus rewards and represent their country in the Games will need to put in plenty of time during that 10-day period.
