With the recent launch of Season 5 Reloaded, the second half of new content to come to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, Infinity Ward has launched several new game modes. From Warzone’s new King Slayer to Gunfight Tournaments, players have several new ways to play.
Modern Warfare Season 5 Reloaded: The New Game Modes
The first new game mode to arrive as part of Season 5 Reloaded is King Slayer, an all-new game mode available in Call of Duty: Warzone. This battle royale -scale Team Deathmatch features a few unique mechanics which set it apart from standard battle royale. The circle, for example, doesn’t shrink. Rather, it moves around the map, forcing players to move along with it. Each team is competing for points in King Slayer, but as the name implies, there is a king system in this mode. The highest-scoring player on each team will be marked as a ‘king’ on the Tac-Map. Eliminating a king will grant a player bonus points and a free Killstreak.

The next new game mode which is now live is Gunfight Tournaments, a much-loved variant on Gunfight which has been absent for some time. Now featuring the Verdansk Stadium’s Pitch as a new map, Gunfight Tournaments actually offers special rewards now. Winning a tournament can net players XP and even; “high tier cosmetic rewards”. In fact, Activision will be running a free-access Gunfight Tournament weekend starting from the 28th of August. From the 28th to the 2nd of September, Tournaments will be free-to-play.
The third and final new mode of Modern Warfare Season 5 Reloaded is Ground War Reinforce. A new variant of the standard Ground War mode, Reinforce features three flags and is essentially a flag capture mode similar to Domination. However, when a player goes down, they won’t respawn normally. Instead, they’ll enter Spectator mode until a member of their team captures a flag. When that happens, all spectating members of that team will respawn at once. To win a round, a team needs to capture all three flags.
