Have you recently taken advantage of the “apartment glitch” in GTA Online? If so, hopefully you didn’t take it too far. Rockstar Games is cracking down and taking action by wiping accounts of cheaters who participated in exploiting the glitch.
Wiping Accounts of Cheaters is Rockstar’s Response to Glitch Exploitation
For those not in the know, the “apartment glitch” can be used to cheat and amass a lot of money quickly. Players who exploit glitches such as this upset the balance of wealth in the world, and also can cause issues with inflation. Rockstar has caught on, however, and is now taking punitive measures against players who they deem went too far. The company is still working on patching the bug.
Insider Tez2 on Twitter explained what is going on.
The text in his tweets states, “A wave of money resets occurred today, targeting the players who participated in the apartment garage glitch. It appears to be a complete character wipe, all progress, money and everything.”

From the sound of things, there are some players who just lost money. But there are others who found out they lost everything. While that is an extreme punishment, it is in line with how Rockstar handles issues like this. Its purpose is to ensure a fair, quality experience for those who follow the rules.
So, if you were thinking about exploiting this glitch to make money, don’t. Rockstar will hopefully get rid of it soon, but in the meantime, they will continue to wipe accounts of offending players.
What else is going on in the world of GTA? There are a lot of rumors about GTA 6, including that it might be a PS5 timed exclusive. But so far, there is nothing solid. Keep up with all updates on GTA 6 and GTA Online in our Grand Theft Auto news section.
