Licensed Music Comes to Call of Duty as New War Track Rewards

Tomorrow, Call of Duty players will be able to get their digital hands on the Modern Warfare Season 6 Battle Pass, and while it contains the usual selection of new Operators and weapons, it also includes something completely new. In Season 6, Infinity Ward is introducing War Tracks which feature licensed music, and some of these will be available in the free tiers of the new Battle Pass.

Modern Warfare Season 6: What Are War Tracks?

War Tracks are a type of unlockable reward in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone which players can assign to the games’ vehicles. Whenever they drive one of those vehicles in-game, their assigned War Track will play. However, Season 6 features something new for War Tracks; actual licensed music. Activision hasn’t revealed a full list of the songs that will be available. However, they have revealed details for the ‘War Track Pack: Hip Hop Edition’. This pack, which is one of several which will be available in-game, features three licensed music tracks:

  • “WHATS POPPIN” by Jack Harlow
  • “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” by DMX
  • “Grindin” by Clipse

A similar War Track Pack: EDM Edition will also be available to unlock in the Season 6 Battle Pass. Once you unlock one of these Packs, you’ll be able to equip your preferred War Track in the Vehicle Customisation menu. Once that’s done, that War Track will play whenever you drive that specific vehicle in a Warzone or Modern Warfare match.

In addition to licensed music, Infinity Ward is also adding some additional War Tracks which feature classic themes from past Call of Duty games. (Including games from both the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series.) As such, players who prefer a more nostalgic, thematic theme to modern music should have some suitable options too. All of these will be available once Modern Warfare Season 6 goes live tomorrow, on the 29th of September.
