With the launch today of Modern Warfare Season 6, Call of Duty players can get their hands on a new Battle Pass, and by extension, two new weapons. One of these new firearms, both of which are available in the free tiers of the Season 6 Battle Pass, is the SP-R 208 marksman’s rifle; a versatile and reliable new tool for snipers.
Modern Warfare Season 6: The SP-R 208
“Reliable, hard-hitting .300 Win bolt-action rifle from Sloan Precision,” writes Infinity Ward; “This weapon’s extensive military use gives rise to an abundance of customisation.”
The new SP-R 208 is available for players to unlock now in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at Tier 15 of the Season 6 Battle Pass. (One of the free tiers available to all players.) Designed to be a more lightweight option than a true sniper rifle, the SP-R 208 can still kill a player with a single shot in Multiplayer, providing you hit your target’s neck, head, or upper body. (Note that its lethality is a little different in Warzone.)
The SP-R 208 out-performs the MK2 Carbine when it comes to both range and damage, and there are attachments available to further increase the rifle’s performance in those areas. The .338 Lapua Mag 5-R Mags, for example, will boost the damage enough that any torso shot in multiplayer will be a one-shot kill. The MK2 Carbine’s fire rate is slightly higher, however, although the Sloan SK-600 Feather attachment does narrow this different significantly.
When it comes to accuracy, the SP-R 208 is top of its class, out-performing all other marksman rifles. This means that it also boasts the most accurate hip-fire spread, with relatively little drift from recoil. As a result, fans of marksman rifles will likely find plenty of use for the SP-R 208. Although the MK2 Carbine might still perform better on certain maps, the SP-R 208 could quickly become a favourite for players who favour mid-to-long-range gunplay, especially thanks to its wide variety of attachments.
