PlayStation Store Messages Hint at PS5 Backwards Compatibility Details

There are still a lot of unanswered questions about PS5 backwards compatibility. If you have been eager for more PS5 backwards compatibility details, you will be interested in some messages and links that have reportedly showed up at the PlayStation Store. These messages and links give us a little more info about what we might expect when it comes to playing PS4 games on PS5.

Here are the PS5 Backwards Compatibility Details from the PlayStation Store

There is a link that presently leads nowhere at the PlayStation Store, but appears to point toward what should be a page with detailed information on backwards compatibility. A message about missing functionalities on PS5 for certain PS4 titles points toward this link.

Also, there is this message: “This PS4 game isn’t supported with your PS5’s current system software. We’re continuing to make more PS4 games playable on PS5. Update your PS5, and then try playing the game.”

Incidentally, PlayStation Store code has also turned up that mentions saving to the cloud, cross-gen party chat and downloading remotely.

All of these references at the store give us some indications about what to expect as we transition into the new era of Sony gaming. Nevertheless, it is important to remember that none of these bits of code or messages or links are in a finalized form. So, we cannot assume anything formal from any of them. They just are hints about the future. As we get closer to the release of PS5 in November, however, we expect more details to become clear and final at the PlayStation Store.

In related news, it turns out that it may not be possible to transfer all PS4 saves to PS5 upgraded games. Read more about this and other topics related to PS4 and PS5 in our PlayStation news.
