Apex Legends Season 7 – titled ‘Ascension‘ – is set to launch this evening, at 20:00 PM PT. Together with a new Battle Pass, the seventh season will be bringing a wealth of new content to the game, including its third-ever map, Olympus. The season also includes the next addition to the roster of Legends, Horizon, and the game’s first pilotable vehicle.
Apex Legends Season 7 Launching Today
First announced late last month with the release of a new Stories From the Outlands episode, Apex Legends Season 7 is expected to be one of the largest content launches for Apex Legends in some time. Perhaps most importantly, the game will be getting a third map, Olympus. This new map is significantly different to both Kings Canyon and World’s Edge; a floating, vibrant city in the clouds with both verdant and industrial sectors.
Alongside Olympus, the game is also getting Horizon, the next new Legend. Horizon will be offering players a new option who focuses on mobility. Interestingly, her play-style differentiates itself from Octane – who emphasises speed – by instead emphasising agility. While she isn’t necessarily faster than other Legends, she is highly manoeuvrable, and able to survive falls with lower damage. Additionally, she has multiple abilities which enable her to push enemies out of cover, allowing her to play a disruptive role in matches.
Additionally, while Season 7 isn’t adding any new weapons to Apex Legends, it will be adding the Trident; the game’s first pilotable vehicle. The Trident should help players move quickly around the Olympus map and will serve principally as a transport. It doesn’t have any weapons, for example, but can transport a full squad of players. All of this new content, together with the new Battle Pass, will be available later today once the new Season goes live. Also, for PC players, Apex Legends is finally coming to Steam alongside the Season 7 launch.
