Last week, Borderlands 3 officially launched into next-gen, alongside the release of the Xbox Series X. Two new next-gen editions of the game are now available, along with a free next-gen upgrade for all current players. Now, Gearbox is preparing to launch their first in-game event since the next-gen rollout; the Borderlands 3 Golden Path mini-event.
The Borderlands 3 Golden Path Mini-Event
“Your rewards for saving the universe are about to get Legendary – literally,” writes Gearbox; “From November 19 to December 3, get Legendary item rewards for completing select campaign missions during the free Golden Path Mini-Event for Borderlands 3.”

The Golden Path mini-event officially begins at 9:00 AM PT on the 19th, in just a few days’ time. It will end at the same time on the 3rd of December, two weeks later. During the event, certain main missions of the game’s core campaign will feature a special event buff which guarantees Legendary loot drops. These missions form the event’s namesake “Golden Path,” which players can progress through to earn a hoard of guaranteed Legendaries. The buff won’t apply to optional side missions or DLC missions.
This new event is ideally suited for new players who are getting into Borderlands 3 with the next-gen launch. Or, indeed, if you’re taking the opportunity to replay the game on next-gen hardware with the new free upgrade. According to Gearbox, the items which you’ll be guaranteed to get along the Golden Path include weapons like the Hellwalker shotgun, Lyuda sniper rifle, Nemesis handgun, and Handsome Jackhammer SMG. If you’re playing a new character, these weapons are likely to ensure that you reach the final boss-fight with more than enough tools at your disposal to win.
If you’re new to Borderlands 3, Golden Path is like many dozens of mini-events which Gearbox has run in-game since launch; a free, limited-time event which offers some form of buff or bonus loot. Many such events have appeared in-game more than once. However, at least for now, the next two weeks will be players’ only opportunity to participate in the Golden Path.
