As the NFL nears the postseason, fans are watching many players give impressive efforts to help their squads. That includes the Tennessee Titans’ Derrick Henry and Cleveland Browns’ Baker Mayfield. They were among players receiving increases in the recent Madden 21 player ratings update for Week 14. Meanwhile, a number of others saw their numbers drop.
Henry, Alexander, Mayfield rise in Madden 21 player ratings
Two touchdowns and 215 yards rushing is a crazy good performance, and that’s what the Titans’ Derrick Henry put up in Week 14. Henry has a slight chance to break the all-time single-season rushing yards record set by Eric Dickerson, should he keep this up. Meanwhile, he moved up a point in Madden 21 player ratings to become a 95 overall. Is the Madden 99 Club around the corner?
Also getting a one-point boost was Jaire Alexander of the Green Bay Packers. He recorded two solo and three total tackles in his team’s 31-24 victory over Detroit in Week 14. Overall, he’s put together a solid season’s work, and one reward is his current 93 overall rating. Next up, a playoff appearance is likely.
Last but not least for the rising NFL players of Week 14 is Baker Mayfield. The Cleveland Browns faithful can be hard on their star players, but Baker played his heart out in a narrow loss to the Baltimore Ravens in MNF.
Mayfield completed 28-of-47 passes for 343 yards with two touchdowns, but also ran one in himself. His team fell 47-42 in a nailbiter, featuring that impressive fourth quarter. Baker goes up a point to an 83 overall, while teammate Odell Beckham Jr. slides one to become an 89 OVR in the Madden 21 player ratings.
Big Ben, Terron Armstead amongst sinking players?
Despite still being amongst the best teams in the NFL this season, the Pittsburgh Steelers suffered their second loss in Week 14. Ben Roethlisberger threw 21-for-37 completions with two touchdowns and 187 yards. However, he was also picked off twice and sacked for a 10-yard loss. The Bills collected a 26-15 win, while Big Ben slides by two points down to 80 OVR.
Also falling two points was the San Francisco 49ers’ Mike McGlinchey, as his team’s been in disarray this season. McGlinchey has been allowing pressure on the right side which has hurt the team in an already tough campaign. He’s now an 82 OVR in the Madden 21 player ratings.
As mentioned, OBJ slid out of the 90-or-better ratings, while Terron Armstead falls by a point to a 94 OVR. The New Orleans Saints player has not performed up to his usual standards since he had to take some time away for COVID-19.
The good news is many players have several more games along with the playoffs to improve those performances and Madden 21 player ratings.
