The PS5 Upgrade for God of War Will be Available Tomorrow
There haven’t been any teasers or new info about the next God of War game for quite some time. However, fans of the series do have something to look forward to this week… provided they own a PS5. Tomorrow, Santa Monica Studio will be releasing a free PS5 upgrade for God of War, featuring a major graphical boost.
The God of War Enhanced Performance PS5 Upgrade
“The PlayStation 5 launch has been an exciting time for everyone here at Santa Monica Studio […]” reads a blog detailing tomorrow’s release; “our team has been working on a video graphics mode option that will enable players to get the most out of the increased performance capabilities of the PlayStation 5.”
Tomorrow, on the 2nd of February, Santa Monica Studio will be rolling out the; “God of War Enhanced Performance Experience for PlayStation 5”. Like many other major titles from the last-generation, this is God of War’s next-gen upgrade; a major update to its graphics and performance designed to take advantage of the capabilities of new hardware. Since its original release, God of War has offered two graphics options; one that boosts resolution at the possible cost of performance, while the other sacrifices some resolution for more reliable performance. The God of War PS5 upgrade introduces a new default option which merges both together.
In this new “Enhanced Performance Experience,” God of War will offer 2160p, 4K Checkerboard resolution (provided you have a 4K display device), synced to 60 FPS. This setting will be the default when you boot up the game. However, players will be able to set it back the original PS4 graphics if they so wish. This can be done in the game meny by selecting the “Original Performance Experience”. This old setting will be synced to 30 FPS, but will still offer 4K Checkerboard Resolution.
Best of all for God of War players, this upgrade is completely free for all. Providing you have either a PS4 version of the game playable through backwards compatibility or have acquired it through the PlayStation Plus Collection, you’ll get full access to the free upgrade.
