NBA 2K21 Patch Update 4 Notes: Next-Gen Gets Fixes for Fading Threes, Player Likeness Updates

An NBA 2K21 patch update 4 is now available for the next-generation consoles. As of Thursday, gamers could see the latest notes for what all changed on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S game. Unfortunately, it didn’t bring a lot to celebrate with just one gameplay issue addressed along with updates to various game modes and player likenesses.

NBA 2K21 patch update 4 addresses fading three-pointer issue, other fixes

The 2K21 current-gen update that just arrived was over four gigabytes in size, while the next-gen patch update checked in at only around 2.5 GB. That goes to show not a lot of fixes arrived with this latest patch, especially in the gameplay department.

While there are still a number of serious gameplay issues that the 2K community would like fixed, the NBA 2K21 patch update 1.06 addressed just one of the glaring problems. Those off-the-dribble fading threes are now nerfed thanks to the latest patch update.

Unfortunately, that is the only gameplay fix in the NBA 2K21 patch update notes for next-gen.

MyCareer and MyCity also received a number of changes in the game. That includes improved load times for menus, a private matchmaking option for Pro-Am League Nights, and other stability or performance fixes (below).

  • Private matchmaking is now supported during Pro-Am League Nights.
  • Improved load times of menus when loading into The City.
  • Foam fingers and boxing gloves will no longer remain equipped when going into games in The City.
  • Addressed community reported issues with the badge progression display on the postgame recap screen.
  • Resolved a rare hang that could occur upon completion of workouts in the Gatorade Gym.
  • Various other stability and performance issues have been addressed to further improve the overall experience in The City.

Numerous players likenesses updated along with

With the latest NBA 2K21 next-gen update, gamers also received a number of player likeness updates. Those players included the Hawks’ De’Andre Hunter, Knicks’ Immanuel Quickley, Blazers’ Anfernee Simons, the Hornets’ LaMelo Ball, along with the Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr. and Brandon Clarke. Others include Tariq Owens, Patrick Patterson, Miye Oni, Zeke Nnaji, and Jaden McDaniels.

Here’s a look at the other areas of 2K21 that received updates or fixes:

MyNBA:

  • Updated the MyNBA Online load/download Draft Class option functionality.
  • Improvements made to the way player morale is calculated.
  • Resolved a player generation issue that led to inflated athletic attributes like speed and vertical as progression occurred.

MyTEAM:

  • Various preparations have been made for upcoming additions to MyTEAM.
  • Enabled Situational Substitutions for both On-the-Fly Coaching and Timeouts in Domination, Challenge, Unlimited, and Limited modes.
  • Addressed a rare hang that could occur when starting a multiplayer match with a specific lineup.
  • Various other stability and performance issues have been addressed to further improve the overall experience.

Unfortunately, the latest NBA 2K21 patch update notes aren’t sitting well with many next-gen gamers due to the lack of gameplay fixes. While there will probably be more updates on the way, it seems many people are hoping that NBA 2K22 will bring them what they truly want from a next-gen basketball simulation game.
