Launching at the start of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2, two new weapons can be unlocked simply by progressing through the new Battle Pass. The FARA 83 is the first of these, unlocking once players reach Tier 15 in the free tiers of the pass. This powerful assault rifle provides players with a valuable new tool to use throughout Season 2.
Black Ops Cold War Season 2: The FARA 83
The FARA 83 could easily find its way into many players’ top picks, particularly for assault rifle enthusiasts. This is because the weapon boasts one of the highest rates of fire of any assault rifle. Moreover, it couples that with reliable damage and fairly manageable recoil (particularly with the use of attachments like the Foregrip). In its base form, the FARA 83’s firepower is roughly equivalent to that of an AK-47, although it does have one potential weakness; slower handling speeds.
With a 30-round magazine as the default, players may find themselves emptying the clip very quickly. (Thanks to that high fire rate!) Given that the gun’s reload speed is fairly slow, the magazine may be one of the first things you should consider switching out. Fortunately, both 40- and 50-round magazines are available as alternatives.
Like almost every firearm in Black Ops Cold War, the FARA 83 can be customised for a wide-range of situations. However, the weapon’s most natural role is firing at mid-range, since the slow handling can hamper its performance up close. However, there are attachments available to help the gun perform on smaller, more enclosed maps. Consider removing the Stock, attaching a Foregrip, and using the GRU Mag Clamp to speed up your reloading, for example. Of course, if you want to lean the other way and focus on longer-range engagements, you can do that too. The Sillix Holoscout Optic is a good choice for larger battlefields. Furthermore, the 12.5″ Cavalry Lancer Barrel and SOF Target Designator can help to increase your effective damage range.
