The two-week-long Apex Legends War Games event began earlier this week, giving players access to a special event prize track and the Second Chance mode. This was the first of five planned gameplay modes which will be available during the course of the event, and now, the second of these modes is live; Ultra Zones.
The Apex Legends Ultra Zones Takeover
In the Second Chance game mode, every player got a single free respawn in each match; players would skydive back into the game from above the spot where they died, shortly after being slain. This first mode came to an end yesterday, and now, the Ultra Zones gameplay mode is available in its place. This new mode, like the first, is available as a playlist takeover. This means that Ultra Zones replaces the regular Play Apex playlist for its duration.

Ultra Zones revisits a concept which first appeared in a limited-time mode back in Season 6; Flash Points. In Ultra Zones, multiple Hot Zones appear scattered across the map, each offering the normal epic and gold loot that players would expect to find in such an area. However, each of these Hot Zones is contained within a Flash Point; a large bubble which encapsulates the whole area. Within this bubble, all players benefit from both health and shield replenishment.
The Ultra Zones mode will only be available for a couple of days, ending on the morning of the 19th. On that day, the third playlist takeover will begin – the Auto Banners mode. Like the first mode, Auto Banners will focus on making respawn easier, by allowing players to automatically retrieve fallen squadmates’ Banner Cards. Two further game modes will take their turn after that, Killing Time and Armour Regen, before the War Games event concludes on the 27th of April.
