Tomorrow, on the 2nd of November, Respawn will be launching Apex Legends: Escape; the next big season for the battle royale title. Fans can look forward to the game’s fourth map, a beast-infested island paradise called Storm Point, as well as the arrival of Ash; a new Legend making her playable debut in Apex Legends after her original appearance as a fan-favourite villain in Titanfall 2.
Apex Legends: Escape Brings a New Map, New Legend & More
The headline features of Apex Legends: Escape are, of course, Storm Point and Ash. The former is the game’s largest-ever map, on a totally new planet. “This beautiful oasis was once an energy colony for the IMC, and the ruins remain,” explains Respawn; “Many have tried to make a home here: all have failed”. One reason for this is no doubt the deadly fauna. Storm Point is home to packs of Prowlers and giant poisonous Spiders, both of which pose a threat to players.

Ash, meanwhile, is a new Legend but an old character. Seemingly destroyed in Titanfall 2, Apex Legends has delved into Ash’s backstory as Dr. Ashleigh Reid, and will now make her playable for the first time. Her play-style is lethal and precise, with all manner of abilities for locating, pinning down, and eliminating targets. She is also the second Legend, after Wraith, to have a portal ability. Ash’s portal is one-way and also usable by other players for a short duration.
Also coming in Escape is the C.A.R. SMG, another thing making its debut after an original appearance in Titanfall 2. This full-auto submachine gun can use both Light and Heavy magazines, making it a flexible hybrid weapon. Finally, of course, the new season will also launch alongside major updates for both Ranked and the general game balance. Of particular note is a major rebalancing for Wattson which includes a significant rework of her Ultimate.
