You can do just about everything with Alexa: set reminders, ask who won last night’s football game, turn your lights on and off, and more. And now, Alexa is here to serve you in a new capacity as your personalized Call of Duty tactical advisor.
On April 17th, a new application was released in beta called Alexa Skill. This application allows Alexa to give you advice on how to brush up your tactical performance in Call of Duty: WWII.
Activision’s Chief Marketing Officer Tim Ellis explains, “The Call of Duty Alexa Skill is designed to help players improve their Call of Duty skills, connect more easily with their friends and get to the fun faster in Call of Duty: WWII.”
Alexa Skill actually sounds pretty amazing; its AI capabilities allow it to learn by watching your matches and offer you customized, real-time advice to hone your strategies. It has been programmed to answer 2,000 different questions, and can offer over 250,000 different responses. All answers are adjusted based on context. Maps, perks, loadouts, as well as your performance and that of your opponents all are taken into account.
If you want, you can have Alexa provide you with recommendations on the fly as you are playing. If you find that too distracting, you can opt instead for the advice to be dispensed after the match is over.
This seems like an awesome application, so it will be interesting to check out player feedback on its performance. If it pans out, hopefully Activision will do something like this for future COD titles as well.
The next COD game, Black Ops 4, will be released on October 12th. Be sure to check back with us regularly for updates.
