Top 5 Overpowered Fortnite Weapons That Broke the Game

Epic Games has experimented a lot with Fortnite Battle Royale in the past few years. Thanks to these experiments, the game has become insanely popular all over the world. However, not all the experiments have been successful.

There have been times when the game developer released overpowered weapons that completely broke the game. These weapons had been either vaulted or nerfed, but some of them will forever be remembered by players. In this list, we will count down the top 5 overpowered weapons in Fortnite history!

#5 – Drum Gun

Drum Gun was first released as a submachine gun back in Season 4. It dealt 26 and 27 damage for its respective rarities, which was more than an average submachine gun. However, its fire rate was lower than the other guns in the category.

What made the Drum Gun so overpowered was its magazine size. The original Drum Gun had a capacity of 50 bullets and it was a true Spray and Pray weapon. Epic Games had to nerf both its damage and the magazine size to make it balanced.

#4 – Combat Shotgun

Shotguns are usually used from close range, but the Combat Shotgun was different. Players were hitting targets from medium range with it, which was insane. Not only was its range fantastic, but it also had 10 shells in the magazine and players could shoot it nearly twice in one second.

This weapon was released in Season 9, but Epic vaulted it a season after.

#3 – Compact SMG (P90)

Similar to the Drum Gun, the Compact SMG was a Spray and Pray beast! Introduced in Fortnite Season 5, this weapon had a decent range, amazing damage, and insane magazine size. It also had 50 bullets in its magazine, but unlike the Drum Gun, which shot nine bullets per second, the Compact SMG’s fire rate was 11.

Players even compared it to Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet in terms of power! The weapon was nerfed twice in a short period before Epic found a perfect balance for it.

#2 – Guided Missile

The Guided Missile wouldn’t be a big problem now, but it definitely was back in Fortnite Season 3. This was the season when the game started to take off and become popular in every part of the corner. However, the Guided Missile ruined the fun for many players who were getting used to the building mechanics.

This weapon allowed players to shoot and completely control a rocket. The rocket dealt enough damage to destroy enemy builds and even eliminate them. Less than a month after its release, the weapon was drastically nerfed, and just a week after the nerf, it was vaulted.

#1 – Infinity Blade

The Infinity Blade was a fun idea, but it was poorly executed. There was only one Infinity Blade in the match and its starting spot was Polar Peak. Now, since it was a melee weapon, blade wielders were supposed to be at a disadvantage against ranged attacks, but this was not the case.

The Infinity Blade bearer had increased health pool (to 200 HP and 200 shield), increased movement speed (to 130 percent), and was also gaining 1 HP per second. In addition to this, each elimination triggered the siphon effect, giving the wielder 50 HP.

The blade was fun, but it was simply overpowered. Epic vaulted it shortly after its release and it appeared in the Creative mode and limited-time modes afterward.
