Ever since the debut of Cyberpunk 2077’s E3 story trailer, CD Projekt Red has seemingly had no shortage of features to tease fans with. The studio recently clarified that the game will feature stealth mechanics, for example. One aspect which hadn’t received much attention was ultrawide display support; many games don’t offer support of this kind because the feature is restricted to a fairly small part of the PC market. However, CD Projekt Red has now stated that there will be Cyberpunk 2077 ultrawide display support. Moreover, it will be in the game at launch.
Cyberpunk 2077 Ultrawide Display Support
Ultrawide displays are typically only used for PC gaming. To fall into the category of “ultrawide”, a screen needs to have an aspect ratio of 21:9, making it much larger than a typical PC monitor. Because only a minority of PC gamers use ultrawide displays, many developers don’t include ultrawide display support in their games; especially if the game is coming to consoles as well as PC.

However, it seems CD Projekt Red have reason enough to offer ultrawide support. Not only will Cyberpunk 2077 include support for ultrawide displays, but the feature will be available from the game’s launch; even in cases where games do get ultrawide display support, it’s often a feature which is added post-launch. The move is in keeping with CD Projekt Red’s past projects; The Witcher III: Wild Hunt also launched with ultrawide display support. However, in the case of the Witcher, the game only supported ultrawide for general gameplay. Strangely, cutscenes and dialogue did not feature ultrawide support.
CD Projekt Red have clarified that ultrawide display support will feature, but they haven’t stated whether it will be support for the entire game. Given that developers from the studio have stated that they want the link between gameplay and dialogue to be more seamless than past games; it would be odd if the support was similarly partial.
