An Interview with Erik King Provides a Look into the World of Casino Affiliate Sites

Erik King is the author of many affiliate articles for online casino platforms and has built a team of other dedicated writers and passionate fans of online casino services to help him do so. Many are curious about what drives Erik King and what else he has accomplished before he set his sights on the affiliate space.

There are many segments of the online casino marketplace, and affiliate marketing is an important piece of the puzzle. Affiliate sites help to direct consumers towards online platforms that are best aligned with their needs, preferences and interests. The owner and author of some of the internet’s best affiliate sites for this industry, Erik King, sat down and had a chat with us about why he’s in this line of work and what he’s accomplished so far.

King is well-known as providing fair and reasonable affiliate services that consumers can trust and operators are happy to be included in. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for the best Polish online casinos or any other sort of detail in the online casino or betting space, King has built a reputation as a provider of fair information the world over. Let’s see what he has to say.

Q: How Did You Get Involved in the Online Casino Affiliate Industry?

King: Well, I originally intended to get into journalism, so I guess I landed in a sort of tangential space. My original goal was to be the owner of a Swedish magazine and to exist in the world. I thought that making money online with my writing skills seemed the best way to do that, and through that, I found my way to the casino affiliate market. I saw a need that was being unmet there, and I helped to provide a service that I think people want to make use of.

It definitely didn’t go perfectly at first, but after a false start or two, I got the recipe right and things just started working out from there!

Q: If Anyone Doesn’t Know, What Exactly Does an Affiliate Site Do?

King: Oh, sure. We compile lists of online platforms and their services, comparing them and highlighting what they do well or what they lack. Consumers come to us and can browse through that information in an easily digestible format and make decisions about where they want to spend their time and money. The idea is that we save people the time and bother of having to go and do all that legwork themselves. We do receive a commission from the platforms we partner with, but if we don’t have anything good to say about a platform, we simply don’t partner with them.

I like to think of us as a lighthouse; we illuminate the way and help people from foundering on the rocks of misinformation, or from drowning in the over-saturated informational space that the internet can often be.

Q: Why Do Your Affiliate Platforms Succeed When Others Don’t?

King: It can be tough to see and understand exactly where success comes from. Even after years of creating affiliate sites for different markets and with a reputation behind me, some of the sites simply don’t work out.

Two things that are very important are trust and credibility. The consumers who come looking for information have to trust you, and the platforms you partner with have to trust you. Credibility somewhat ties into that as well; if you do anything shady or untrustworthy, you’re going to have trouble getting platforms to partner with you or convincing consumers to listen to anything you say.

It also pays dividends to be flexible and up to date. It’s not good to put out lists of the best poker rooms if those platforms aren’t getting traffic because there’s some other type of platform that has risen to popularity.

Q: How Do You Pick Partner Platforms?

King: As I said earlier, if we don’t have anything nice to say, we don’t partner. If a platform ticks a certain number of boxes in terms of its licensing, security and game or bonus offerings, then it seems worth telling people about. Thankfully for us, there are plenty of platforms that do fit this bill.

The online casino market is constantly expanding and, as saturated markets often are, the onus is really on these platforms to do whatever they can to attract customers. This means that they are all competing to be trustworthy and offer players a better experience than the next site. Platforms that don’t follow this ‘player first’ philosophy don’t tend to last long, so not covering them is easy.

Q: Are There Any Trends You Definitely See Coming on the Horizon?

King: Yeah, for sure! There has been an increasingly strong drift towards more personalized content, and more and more everything is happening on mobile, where it used to be a desktop ecosystem. This means that we rate both of those qualities highly when we talk about platforms, and of course, we are trying to embrace those things ourselves.

We also have seen more new markets opening up, and it’s always exciting to try and be there at the ground floor to help people find the right places to play.

Final Thoughts

While Erik King didn’t want to give away too many industry secrets, he was relatively open about what he thinks separates a good affiliate platform from a bad one. He also displayed a genuine interest in trying to deliver the best service possible to consumers.

King may have started out trying to use his journalism degree to make some money online, but he’s become a reputable tour guide in the online casino affiliate industry.
