The Aaron Donald Madden 22 rating is in, and it’s no surprise. Once again, the Los Angeles Rams Pro Bowler is amongst the elite players in EA’s football video game. Donald was revealed at the top of the list of all linebackers with a 99 overall rating. For those wondering, nobody even came close either, showing how truly special a player Donald has been.
Top 10 Linebackers revealed for EA’s Madden game
Each day throughout the week of Monday, July 26, ESPN and Madden are presenting Ratings Reveal Week. With each day comes a new position’s top players who are in the top 10 of the Madden 22 ratings. The first day brought us a look at the top 10 wide receiver ratings. On Tuesday, it was time to see the defensive linemen, and Aaron Donald ranked head and shoulders above the rest.
Donald’s next closest competitor is longtime Philadelphia Eagles star Fletcher Fox at 94 overall. Chris Jones, DeForest Buckner, and Cameron Heyward all received 92 OVRs and complete the top five linemen as revealed via ESPN/Madden.
Donald, the 2014 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, is a seven-time Pro Bowler and six-time All Pro selection in the NFL. In 2017, 2018, and 2020 he won AP Defensive Player of the Year. Last season’s stats included Donald playing all 16 games with 13.5 sacks and 27 solo tackles.
In addition to the above top 10 players’ ratings, EA and ESPN revealed other top 10 lists for defensive linemen. They included a look at the Strength and Power Move attributes amongst them. Donald tops both those lists, showing his impressive talent on the field and his value to the Rams’ defense.
Aaron Donald Madden 22 rating gives him another 99 Club
Five years and five straight times in the 99 Club is quite a feat. That’s what the Aaron Donald Madden 22 rating achieved. He’s been a member of the exclusive club going back to the Madden 18 game which ironically featured Tom Brady as the cover star. Brady is one of the co-cover stars on Madden 22 alongside Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who also appeared on the cover two years ago.
The Rams’ defensive star is shown in the video below reacting to his fifth time in the 99 Club. He got a nice surprise from his wife and kids, who celebrated the achievement in a fun way. Donald also received special items including a note from the legendary John Madden and a sweet gold “99” chain.
“99 Madden Club. Fifth year in a row. Five straight,” Donald said in the clip.
“I grew up playing Madden. Still play Madden today, so you know to be a 99 in Madden not just one or two years but five straight…Words can’t express how I feel right now,” he said.
Donald is the second member of the club. On Monday, ESPN revealed Davante Adams of the Green Bay Packers as the top overall wide receiver in Madden 22, with his 99 rating. He had several receivers close behind him including Tyreek Hill and Deandre Hopkins, which may show just how much of an impact player Donald is.
