At long last, after months of rumours and outright leaks, Activision has released the first official trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the next upcoming Call of Duty game. The trailer features PS5 footage from Cold War, confirming that it will indeed be launching on next-gen consoles, and also reveals the game’s release date.
The First Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Trailer
“The iconic Black Ops series is back with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War,” writes Activision; “the direct sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops, the original that started it all. In a gripping single-player Campaign, players will descend into the dark center of a global conspiracy alongside iconic characters Woods, Mason, and Hudson, as well as a new cast of operatives to stop a plot decades in the making.”
Although it has long been known about as a result of leaks, including a great many details about the game, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was only officially announced last week. Today’s trailer is the first to be released for the upcoming game. In it, Activision offers fans a glimpse of what’s to come in the game’s story mode, including scenes in Vietnam and other settings. (Confirming that leaked information about the game’s different settings was accurate.)
Indeed, the trailer appears to indicate that the game will take place in two time periods; first in 1968 and then thirteen years later in 1981. It also confirms that the game will feature sections in both major active warzones and sections featuring undercover wetwork in places like Berlin. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be launching on bold current and next-gen consoles on the 13th of November. Moreover, a multiplayer open-beta will take place before that date, with early access for all who preorder. For now, fans can look forward to a multiplayer gameplay reveal on the 8th of September.
