When Battlefield 5 Firestorm launches on the 25th of March, the mode will feature seventeen different vehicles for players to make use of. Some of these can simply be found scattered around the vast Halvøy map. Others can only be found in special Vehicle Lockups, or called in via Reinforcements. Similarly, while some are pre-existing vehicles from the current version of the game, others are totally new and unique to Firestorm. Additionally, DICE is introducing new fuel and ammo mechanics to keep the Battlefield 5 Firestorm vehicles from totally dominating the new mode.
Battlefield 5 Firestorm Vehicles: The 6 Combat Vehicles
The biggest and most heavily armoured Battlefield 5 Firestorm vehicles, these ‘combat vehicles’ can’t just be found around the map. These bruisers can only be found in Vehicle Lockups; special bunkers which players will need to unseal. Additionally, some of these vehicles can be called in via an air-drop using the Reinforcements flare gun.
- Churchill Mk VII: One of the most powerful vehicles in Firestorm, the three-seater Churchill tank is the heaviest Allied tank in Battlefield 5. Players can only find Churchills inside Vehicle Lockup Objectives.
- Panzer 38(t): Although light, this tank is nevertheless a formidable vehicle. It has a slight advantage over the Staghound, as it seats four instead of three. Players can find it in Vehicle Lockup Objectives only.
- Panzer IV: A tank which is commonly seen throughout the Battlefield 5 story campaign; the Panzer IV is a powerful three-seater frontline tank. Players can find these in Vehicle Lockup Objectives and also call them in as Reinforcements.
- Staghound T17E1: This three-seater light tank is smaller than most other tanks. Players can only find Staghounds in Vehicle Lockup Objectives or by calling one in as a Reinforcement.
- Tiger I: The monstrous German tank which featured heavily in The Last Tiger War Story, the Tiger I is a very powerful three-seater tank. Like the Churchill, players will only ever find it in Vehicle Lockup Objectives.
- Valentine Mk VIII: A powerful tank which only seats two; a driver and a turret gunner, the Valentine Mk VIII is a valuable asset, especially if you don’t have a full squad. Players can only acquire a Valentine by finding one in a Vehicle Lockup.
Battlefield 5 Firestorm Vehicles: The 4 Armoured Transports
The four ‘armoured transports’ found in Firestorm are the toughest vehicles which players can find in the wild. As such, they’re likely to be highly sought after, especially in the early stages of a game before players open any Vehicle Lockups. In addition to being found around Halvøy, three of these can also be called in as Reinforcements.
- Kubelwagen: This lightweight armoured car features a pintle-mounted machine gun. It can seat a driver, gunner, and a passenger, all of whom are vulnerable to small arms fire.
- M3 Halftrack: Larger and heavier than the Kubelwagen, the M3 seats a driver and three gunners. Both the first and second gunner use powerful Bren guns, one forward-facing, the other rear-facing. Meanwhile, the third gunner uses a forward-facing machine gun. Both the third gunner and the driver are immune to small arms fire, while the other two gunners are exposed.
- Sd. Kfz 251 Halftrack: This Halftrack is the Axis equivalent of the M3 and has a similar design. The key difference is that the gunners use MG 34s instead of Bren guns.
- Universal Carrier: Similar but slower than the Kubelwagen, the Universal Carrier has a single mounted Bren gun. It can seat a driver, gunner, and passenger, who are all exposed to small arms fire. Unlike the Kubelwagen, it can also tow stationary weapons (see below). It is also the only vehicle in this category which players cannot call in with Reinforcements; it only appears scattered around the map.
Battlefield 5 Firestorm Vehicles: The 7 “Firestorm-Only” Transports
These vehicles are all new to Battlefield 5 and only appear in Firestorm. Most can transport multiple soldiers or even a full Squad. The category also includes Firestorm’s only aircraft. All of these can be found scattered around Halvøy, and some can also be called in as Reinforcements.
- Kettenkrad: Half motorcycle, half halftrack, this small vehicle seats a driver and passenger. Players can find this vehicle around the map or they can call it in as a Reinforcement.
- Pickup Truck: Although not boasting much armour, this truck can seat an entire squad.
- Prototype Helicopter: Firestorm’s sole aircraft, this lightly-armoured helicopter has a single seat for the pilot, but the rest of a four-person squad can still sit on the sides.
- Schwimmwagen: An aquatic armoured car which can travel across water as well as land; the Schwimmwagen is the only vehicle in this category which features its own weapon; a forward-facing machine gun. It can seat an entire squad, and is available as a Reinforcement.
- Sports Car: This two-seater car is among the fastest vehicle options in Firestorm, although it has no weapons or much armour. Players can call it in as a Reinforcement.
- Staff Car: Bigger but slower than a Sports Car, the Squad Car can seat a full squad of four. It’s available as a Reinforcement.
- Tractor: This one-seat vehicle has very few advantages, if any, compared to other vehicles. However, if players have no other option, the tractor will no doubt be pressed into service.
Battlefield 5 Firestorm Vehicles: The 2 Towable/Stationary Weapons
Players can only find two of these weapons in Firestorm. Although they are very powerful, they’re stationary unless you can find a vehicle to tow them. They appear randomly around the map. A single soldier can operate one of these. However, they’ll need a driver in another vehicle to move them around.
