Did you order a PlayStation 5 from Amazon and receive some other item instead? Some Amazon UK customers have reported that they wound up with dog food, grills, and other weird items instead of the PS5s they bought. Previously, Amazon issued refunds to these buyers, but did not offer replacements. But now, unexpectedly, Amazon is replacing PS5s for some of these customers.
Amazon is Replacing PS5s for Customer Who did Not Get What They Ordered
IGN reported that a writer was sent an email from Amazon in which the company stated, “We are pleased to confirm that we will be able to secure a PlayStation 5 for you as a replacement for the order that you didn’t receive. Subject to valid payment, we expect to dispatch your PlayStation 5 within 14 days of your confirmation.”
The reason the replacement is not automatic is because the eligible customers already received refunds. Some of them may have purchased consoles elsewhere as well. So, customers need to take action to get the replacements. They need to send in new payments and essentially re-order. But this stock appears to be open only to those in this predicament. After the process is complete, will there be extra stock left over to sell to the general public? Maybe, maybe not.
So, if you received an item you did not order instead of a PS5, make sure you watch your inbox. Since Amazon is replacing PS5s for buyers in your situation, you may be able to get a console after all.
If you never did get to place an order for a PlayStation 5, you will be relieved to hear that more PS5 inventory is apparently on the way to retail stores. You can follow more updates on PS5 stocking, replacements and more in our PlayStation news section.
