Amazon Leak Suggests Far Cry 5’s Hours of Darkness DLC to Release Within Three Weeks
Ubisoft announced three planned DLC packs for Far Cry 5 back in the first week of March. However, more than two months later, the company still hasn’t confirmed actual release dates for any of them. Now, however, it seems that a prematurely-listed product page on Amazon may have revealed the release date for the first of the three expansions.
The DLC, which will begin with “Hours of Darkness”, followed by “Lost on Mars” and “Living Dead Zombies”, is all themed around B-movies in a similar manner to Far Cry 3’s Blood Dragon DLC. Indeed, all three are supposedly based on films made by a fictional film director named Guy Marvel who appears in Far Cry 5, directing a sequel to Blood Dragon. The first DLC, Hours of Darkness, is themed around the Vietnam War. Although details are scarce, it is known that players will be facing the Viet-Cong as the DLC’s enemy faction. The DLC’s name is a clear reference to “Heart of Darkness”, the classic 1899 novel by Joseph Conrad. That novel has very close ties to the Vietnam War; it inspired the plot of the famed 1979 film Apocalypse Now.

The leak was spotted on Amazon by several individuals before the listing was taken down. The listing had Hours of Darkness retailing at a cost of $12. That certainly makes sense given the $30 price of the season pass. It also listed the DLC’s release date as June 5th, less than three weeks away. Leaks such as these are relatively common; online retailers often accidentally post listings too early. While the information included on them is sometimes outdated or inaccurate, they frequently prove true.
The only part of Far Cry 5’s season pass to have an announced release date is the release of Far Cry 3: Classic Edition, a remaster of Ubisoft’s 2012 title. That game is planned to release on June 26th. It is unknown, however, whether that date has any relation to the release date of the three DLC packs.
