Ammunition is Significantly Lighter in Fallout 76 Than in Fallout 4

Earlier this week, a huge amount of gameplay footage from Fallout 76 was released online. All of this footage was recorded at a recent press event which Bethesda held at the Greenbrier in West Virginia. The footage has answered a wide variety of fan questions about the game, especially about its multiplayer features. One thing which has emerged about the upcoming game is that Fallout 76 ammunition appears to weigh a lot less than in Fallout 4. Other items, such as bobby pins, appear to weigh more, however.

The Weight of Fallout 76 Ammunition and Other Items Compared to Fallout 4

Bethesda recently detailed how the Fallout 76 over-encumbrance system will work. It won’t be identical to that which fans of Bethesda games will be familiar with; there are a variety of minor changes, such as the ability to move at full speed but only in short bursts while over-encumbered. A Redditor by the name of gethsbian pored over the different gameplay videos and put together a comprehensive list of Fallout 76 ammunition weights. When compared to Fallout 4, it appears that ammo will weigh quite a lot less. Even larger forms of ammunition, such as missiles and mini nukes, have huge reductions.

While every form of ammunition so far has seen a reduction, other items have seen increases. Bobby pins weighed nothing in Fallout 4. However, they will weigh 0.1 lbs. in Fallout 76. Fusion cores, on the other hand, are also reduced; down 25% from 4 lbs. to 3. The following ammunition types have been detailed so far:
