Freelancers, rejoice as the Anthem demo has finally got a release date that’ll have you phoning up sick on a very specific day. February the 1st, 2019. This demo is a pre-launch demo that will allow friends to group together and head off into the wild, vibrant world of BioWare’s latest video game, Anthem where you’ll be able to take on monsters and meet brand new characters in the game’s main hub, Tarsis.
This news comes from EA themselves, who were also kind enough to provide details on how you would be able to access the demo for yourself when it officially comes out in February. As it is, you’ll need to either have pre-ordered the game or be signed up for EA or Origin Access. As EA put it, “if you’ve already pre-ordered or joined, you’re all set. Just set your calendars for February 1, clear out your schedule, and prepare to discover the world of Anthem.”
However, as EA later clarified, if your membership for either Origin Access or EA Access isn’t active then you’ll be unable to download the demo and play with your friends. So make sure you’re prepared, otherwise it may come February 1st and you’ll be left feeling more than a little disappointed when all your friends are playing together and you’re stuck at home, all alone, eating beans on toast in your PJs.
EA didn’t provide any more details after this apart from a reminder to check back for more details, which they’ll be providing as the year goes on. Battlefield V fans may remember that this isn’t the first time EA has restricted a game’s demo to those who are only part of their EA/Origin Access, which doesn’t seem bad in writing but can lead to a few fans feeling as though they won’t have a chance to play the game before it is officially released.
