Anthem Map Size Revealed by BioWare Creative Director

The Anthem map size has been fully revealed by developer BioWare in a pretty atypical way. Oddly enough, the game’s entire map is surprisingly small at a glance for a game that is meant to be one of the next games-as-a-service like Destiny 2. However, fans shouldn’t worry as there is more to this story regarding the map.

The Anthem map size was revealed, strangely enough, due to a random Reddit post by a user on the game’s official Reddit page. This wasn’t during a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” or AMA session so it is surprising that one of the developers for the game decided to comment and confirm a pretty important detail for the upcoming game.

Anthem Map Size Revealed

Reddit user SwellyNelly posted a screenshot on the game’s subreddit, asking if it was the total Anthem map size. The screenshot came from a gameplay demo for the game that was uploaded to YouTube. In the gameplay demo, the map can be briefly seen during the gameplay. Surprisingly, BioWare Creative Director Brenon Holmes commented, saying “Yes!”

You can see the same screenshot that Reddit user SwellyNelly posted above. However, that isn’t the full story. Holmes also noted that there are two smaller parts of the regions that are missing from the top and bottom of the screenshot that the user took. But it is only a small portion so what you see right now is majority of the entire game’s map.

This shouldn’t be worrying for fans, though, as verticality is an important part of the Anthem map size that will add depth. There will be caves and underground sections within that same map for players to explore so we will just have to wait and see how big it truly feels when the game launches next year on February 22, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
