Apex Legends Chaos Theory Collection Event Coming Next Week

Next week, Caustic will be staging his first-ever Town Takeover in Apex Legends, thanks to an all-new Collection Event. The first major event of Season 8, Chaos Theory will feature the usual range of event cosmetics alongside a major new item, map takeover, and game mode!

The Apex Legends Chaos Theory Collection Event

The upcoming Apex Legends Chaos Theory Collection Event will be launching in-game on the 9th of March. As it happens, Apex Legends will finally be releasing on the Nintendo Switch on the same day. The headline feature of the new event is, of course, the new Town Takeover. Like previous Takeovers, this means a big new addition to the primary active map – in this case, to King’s Canyon. The Caustic Treatment facility replaces what was previously Water Treatment. Inside, players will be able to drain toxic fluid from the central tanks. When this happens, four gold loot items will become accessible, but players will have a limited time to seize them before they flood again.

Also coming in Chaos Theory is a new game mode, which will be taking over the Play Apex playlist. Known as ‘Ring Fury,’ this new mode works like a standard match, with the addition of Ring Flares. While the Ring slowly closes in, Ring Flares start small and slowly expand outwards, posing a serious obstacle to players. They cause just as much damage as getting caught beyond the Ring. Fortunately, the game will warn you before a Ring Flare appears. Interestingly, however, there will be a way to survive inside a Ring Flare, thanks to an all-new item.

Apex Legends Chaos Theory Collection Event Announced 2

Heat Shields are a totally new item in Apex Legends, and will be available as part of Chaos Theory. Players can throw down a Heat Shield to create a safety bubble, within which players won’t take damage from either Ring Flares or the Ring itself. Furthermore, within the Shield, players can revive 25% faster and use healing items 50% faster. However, these bonuses only apply when the Heat Shield is outside the Ring. Once a Heat Shield activates beyond the Ring, it will gradually degrade until it collapses. Respawn has confirmed that Heat Shields will remain in Apex Legends after the end of Chaos Theory.
