With the launch of Apex Legends Season 3, fans were treated to a wealth of new content, including a new Legend and a whole new map. Included in that new content release was also a new weapon; the Apex Legends Charge Rifle. Making its way to Apex from Titanfall, this formerly anti-Titan weapon lets players unleash single (but highly powerful) blasts. However, it seems that Respawn are currently working on a nerf for this new addition.
The Apex Legends Charge Rifle Nerf
The Charge Rifle was one of the smaller pieces of content to come with the launch of Season 3. However, from a multiplayer meta perspective, any new weapon has the potential to bring significant change. In the case of the Charge Rifle, it seems as though both fans and developers agree that it’s balance isn’t quite right. According to the game’s Trello Board, which tracks various projects which the developers are working on, changes are on the way.
“Current Charge Rifle balance is not where it should be,” says Respawn; “Changes incoming”. While this doesn’t specifically state that the change will be a nerf, that is by far the likelier outcome given the response from fans to the weapon’s power. There’s no specific release date for this “Charge Rifle weapon balance” as of yet. However, it’s likely to come with the game’s next general update, partway through Season 3.
When Respawn launched Season 3, they included a patch which made a variety of changes to Legend and weapon balancing. However, on the whole, these changes affected Legend abilities. While some gear items got changes, weapons were left largely untouched. As such, it may very well be that Respawn is waiting to see how the meta takes shape in Season 3 before rolling out a weapon-centric balance update. If so, such an update would be likely to arrive alongside a collection event or other in-game content release.
