Respawn has now confirmed the release date for the next season of Apex Legends. Entitled “Apex Legends: Emergence,” the new season will be launching on the 3rd of August, bringing with it a new Legend, a new weapon, and much more besides.
What’s Coming in Apex Legends: Emergence
Without a doubt, the headline feature of Apex Legends: Emergence is Seer, the suave new Legend joining the game’s existing roster. “With microdrones and an artist’s eye,” writes Respawn; “Seer spots opportunities that other Legends might miss, and seizes them in the most beautiful way he can”. While Seer’s abilities were certainly front and centre in the new launch trailer, it remains unknown exactly how they will work in-game. According to Respawn, a gameplay reveal for Emergence will be released on the 26th of July, in just a few days’ time.
Although the new season isn’t bringing a new map with it, it does feature a reportedly major map update for World’s Edge. Respawn is keeping the details of this update under wraps for the time being. However, fans should get at least a partial look with the upcoming gameplay trailer. Three new maps will also be coming to Apex Legends Arenas; three existing areas chosen from three separate maps. These will be Hillside from Kings Canyon, Dome from World’s Edge, and Oasis from Olympus. These will launch alongside a new Ranked mode for Arenas itself.
The final big feature of Apex Legends: Emergence is the Rampage LMG. This all-new light machine gun will join the armoury as a fourth option to the M600 Spitfire, Devotion LMG, and L-STAR EMG. Reportedly invented by Rampart, the weapon’s details are still under wraps. However, Respawn has said that it possesses; “a surprising source of firepower”. No doubt the weapon will be making an appearance in the gameplay trailer this coming Monday.
