Apex Legends: Emergence, the battle royale title’s latest season, is now available to play. Featuring the detection-focused Seer as a brand new Legend, Emergence also includes an explosive new machine gun and extensive map updates for World’s Edge.
What’s New in Apex Legends: Emergence?
As with every new season of Apex Legends, the headline feature for Emergence is Seer, the latest addition to the roster of playable Legends. Seer enters the Apex Games with a very unique playstyle; one which focuses almost entirely on detecting nearby enemies. Every one of his abilities provides Seer with some way of detecting enemies, either by seeing them through obstacles, tracking movement, or pointing towards their location.
Also launching alongside Seer is the Rampage, a brand-new LMG invented by Rampart. At face value, this weapon does have a relatively slow fire rate for a machine gun. However, the Rampage actually allows players to load thermite grenades into it in order to “overclock” the fire rate for a limited time.
The third key area of new content are changes to the World’s Edge map. Apex Legends’ second map is coming to the fore once again in Emergence; this time it arrives with an even more extreme environment, together with totally new areas. “[…] the land is overmined, overburdened, and pushed to its limit,” explains Respawn; “The earth has fractured and erupted as nature is reclaiming what’s hers”. The new additions include aerial gondolas, treacherous rivers of lava, and a weather-control machine.
Alongside these three prominent features, Apex Legends: Emergence also includes a host of quality-of-life updates, a major meta balancing update, and a big new addition for Arenas fans; Ranked Arenas. For the first time, players can now participate in a competitive mode for Arenas, featuring its own dedicated rank system. This system reportedly assigns players an MMR score so as to ensure accurate placement against opponents of similar skill level.
