Tomorrow, on the 5th of January, Respawn will be launching their first Apex Legends event of 2021; the Apex Legends Fight Night Collection Event. Themed around the recent “Fight Night” episode of Stories From the Outlands, the event features a new LTM takeover, a Town Takeover, two dozen cosmetics, and more.
Apex Legends Fight Night Collection Event
The headline features of the Apex Legends Fight Night Collection Event are Airdrop Escalation and the Olympus boxing ring. The first of these is a new limited-time game mode, only available during the event. Unlike previous LTMs, which were available in separate playlists, this mode is a “takeover” of the core battle royale mode. That means that ‘standard’ Apex won’t be available during the event. In Airdrop Escalation, most of the normal rules of battle royale still apply. However, a series of four supply drops featuring progressively more powerful loot will drop during the match.
Combined with the new Loot MRVNs which are arriving in Olympus, Airdrop Escalation should offer players no shortage of loot. The boxing ring, meanwhile, is the new Pathfinder Town Takeover. This new arena in Olympus features a shielded fighting ring where all weapons and abilities are disabled; melee is the only way to take down players inside. (And to knock out the loot balls which can be found inside.)
Beyond these two new features, as a Collection Event, Fight Night also includes a selection of 24 cosmetics. These will be available to purchase directly and in Event Packs, while a few extra rewards can be earned through the event’s prize track. Collecting all 24 of the event cosmetics will earn players a new Heirloom for Gibraltar. Finally, a meta update will also be launching tomorrow, alongside the event. This patch includes some minor buffs for Caustic and Rampart, among other things.
