Tomorrow, Respawn will be launching the Apex Legends Fight or Fright Collection Event; the first event for Apex Legends since the launch of Season 3. Building on the model established by the Iron Crown and Voidwalker events, Fight or Fright features new Halloween-themed event cosmetics and challenges. However, it also features a major new game mode with its own map variant; Shadowfall. Today, fans got a look at everything they can expect from tomorrow in the Fight or Fright event trailer.
The Apex Legends Fight or Fright Collection Event
As the trailer indicates, the biggest feature of the Apex Legends Fight or Fright Collection Event is Shadowfall. This new game mode brings players back to Kings Canyon, albeit a nighttime version of the old map with a new announcer and more. This 32-player solo mode has a key difference to the standard version of the game; if you die, you’ll join the Shadow Squad, seen in the event trailer. Shadow Squad players lose their weapons and Legend abilities. However, they are faster, they can jump higher, and they gain a very powerful melee attack. Plus, they can climb up walls and will drop into the map anew every time they die.
Once only 10 players remain alive in Shadowfall, those players join forces and must endeavour to escape together on an evac ship. Of course, the Shadow Squad will be hunting them down, and by that point, will significantly outnumber them. In addition to Shadowfall, players can expect event challenges which can be completed to earn special cosmetics. These range from Legendary skins to badges and music packs. All told, there are 24 event cosmetics, and anybody who unlocks them all will get Lifeline’s Heirloom set for free.
Of course, as with previous Apex Legends events, players can also expect double XP for Top 5 & Wins Weekends. The Apex Legends Fight or Fright event will start tomorrow, on the 15th of October, and continue until the 5th of November.
