Apex Legends is Finally Changing How You Use Ultimate Accelerants

Tomorrow’s Fight Night Collection Event might have plenty of new content for Apex Legends, but it seems as though an update being quietly rolled out alongside it could have a major long-lasting impact of its own. Alongside meta updates and a buff for Mirage, the update is finally changing how players use Ultimate Accelerants.

Big Apex Legends Ultimate Accelerants Change

Ever since the launch of Apex Legends, players have only had one way to use the game’s Ultimate Accelerants; a vital item for recharging your Ultimate ability. Players must open their inventory and manually activate the Accelerant, rendering them temporarily vulnerable. Now, however, Respawn are making a major quality-of-life change to how this works. When the Fight Night update rolls out on the 5th of January, players will no longer have to open their inventory to use an Ultimate Accelerant.

“Ultimate Accelerants can now be used without opening your inventory,” explains Respawn’s patch notes; “If your ultimate is not currently available, just press the button (or buttons, on a controller) to activate it, and you’ll pull out any stored Accelerant in your inventory and use it automatically.”

As far as quality-of-life changes go, this is a big one. Certainly, it could have a major impact across the game, especially as players realise that how things have changed. It should be a very welcome change too. After all, it’s something which many players have been requesting for a very long time. Indeed, there has been an outpouring of support for the change on social media following the release of the patch notes.

The change, along with a whole host of other meta updates, bug fixes, and other tweaks, will go live tomorrow. (The 5th of January.) The update is due to launch alongside the Fight Night Collection Event; a two-week-long event featuring 24 new cosmetics, a new game mode, and more.
